During the height of the December 2020 coronavirus siege, the world received the ominous
news of a mutation in the SARS-CoV-2 circulating inside the UK. Those scientists had identified a form of the virus that was spreading rapidly throughout the nation – the new variant was between 50 and 70 percent more transmissible. This resulted in another nationwide lockdown and countries around the world closing their borders to travelers from the UK. At the same time, there were reports of onerous changes to the virus coming from South Africa and Brazil. The cat, as they say, was already out of the bag.
